First canonized Saint of the New World. Exquisitely beautiful, she refused to marry, practiced heroic charity and severe penances while living at home as a 3rd Order Dominican. She cared for the sick, obtained miraculous cures and became a mystic. She was canonized only 54 years after her death and is one of the Church's most popular Saints.
